The American Institute of Alternative Medicine was formally known as the The Massage Away Therapy Inc. school.  The original school was founded in 1990 in Ohio.  When the interest grew from just massage to other forms of alternative medicine, the school reorganized to begin to offer a selection of alternative therapies to learn about.

In 1997, the school moved to their current location in North Columbus Ohio.  The staff consists of 45 employees that are committed to providing an intensive training program for people interested in alternative medicine.

In the year 2000, the school was given a boost by becoming an accredited program for students.  In addition, they were approved for student aid through the U.S. Department of Education.  This enables military personnel and their dependents to acquire financial aid to attend the school.

The American Institute of Alternative Medicine offers curriculum in the study of Therapeutic Massage, Chinese Massage and Acupuncture.  Since these are the only courses offered at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine, the study course is streamlined to focus on these disciplines, and avoid other topics that will not benefit the students.

In 27 months, at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine, a student will be trained in Chinese Acupuncture.  This course is an intensive training program that will allow for a student to understand acupuncture and the elements associated with this old traditional form of healing.

Chinese Massage is also taught at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine.  The muscles and structure of muscles will be studied, and the study of energy and obtaining balance are also taught.

In addition, at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine, the students are taught how to market their skills and build their business enterprises.  These important lessons can help take a student successfully into the real business world.
