The Different Alternative Types Of Medicine

There are many alternative types of medicine these days.In this article I will briefly discuss a number of them. The use of a medicine alternative for those drugs that you take on a regular basis is something you should consider. Alternative medicines are fast becoming the gold standard in health care for those who are disenchanted with the results – or lack thereof– that conventional medicine has produced for them.

Most women would probably prefer to have the hot flushes of menopause than to experience any of these reactions on a regular basis. But, you don’t have to put up with either one when you use alternative medicine! By using a mixture of dong quai and black cohosh extract you will quickly and safely deal with all symptoms related to the change of life. Herbs have been used throughout history and today herbal medicine is growing even more in popularity.

Acupuncture today is much like it used to be. It still involves the use of very thin needles placed into the skin’s layers for relief from many types of pain. It is important to note that acupuncture is not often used alone, but as a complimentary treatment alongside other alternative medications and treatments.

Aromatherapy oils can be used in various different ways and it is just personal choice as to how they are used individually. Essential oils can bring peace, a sense of enlightenment and helps to purify mind and body quickly and naturally and heightens the sensation of connection with our higher selves.

Iridology itself is the study if the iris and how it relates to different parts of the body. It is used as a screening procedure for a host of potential problems. By linking issues with the eyes to particular body parts, practitioners of this science can help patients find problems before they present and they can even help prevent them.

Meditation has been around for many years. It is widely used today as a means to relieve stress and tension. Although many people think they are so busy they don’t have one minute for them to just think a single thought. However, it’s been proven that even ten to fifteen minutes of solid meditation can greatly relieve tension, irritability and stress, thus giving us more time because we are feeling more relaxed and less rushed.

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese kanji for universal life-force energy and is a holistic, light-touch, energy-based modality. It is known to be simple and yet able to produce measurable results. Reiki – the flow of energy through the body – re-establishes a normal flow of ki, which is your life-force energy. It is delivered through a series of hand positions either directly on or just above the body just inside the energy field. The practitioner channels (through their hands) a flow of energy into your body. Your body then takes the energy it needs.

Yoga is one of the oldest systems of self-development and its gentle approach can help even the most inflexible of bodies to gently yield and limber up. Benefits include a feeling of walking tall, improved posture, clarity of mind and increased confidence. The beauty of yoga is that it can be practice anywhere, at home, in the office, at a class, at the beach or even in the garden although some curious glances may be experienced.

Rolfing massage is a technique devised by Dr. Ida Rolf, in the 1950s. Her technique has evolved over the years to improve the structure and function of the connective tissue of the body. This procedure manipulates the connective tissue that connects muscles to the skeletal attachments. Rolfing massage is implemented to create balance everywhere in the body in relation to their center of gravity.

Alternative & Complementary Medicine: Prevention Is Better Than Cure!

Tip! A great deal of alternative medicine treatments come from ancient medicinal knowledge and insight. Many different types of remedies used by different cultures through the years, including the use of needles for pain relief, herbs for medicinal treatments, or even massage therapy, are considered a form of medicine by the respective users because they work to some degree.

Introduction

Many people today have a renewed interest in the whole area of Alternative and Complementary Medicine. This is a very good thing because Conventional Medicine cannot always provide a cure for any illness that comes along

You may have heard the saying “after [some illness] he or she was never the same again”! The patient may have received some kind of “cure” but it left their lives ruined by some combination of the experience and the drugs/ therapies involved.

Illness Really Is Preventable

The single most important thing to understand about your own health is that illness is preventable.
Now I don’t mean things like the common cold - although even this can be preventable to a certain point. I am talking about lifestyle changes, that can improve your health significantly and more importantly can prevent many of the deadly time bombs that are ticking away inside all of us.

Tip! Naturopathic medicine: Is a practice that is designed to stimulate the body’s own healing system. This system utilizes multiple forms of alternative medicine.

Now of course none of us can prevent every illness - all of us will become ill at some point or other. However we can all look after our bodies to such a point that we are in a condition to recover, when that illness strikes.

Its a simple fact of life that if your body is kept in peak fitness, then you will always recover from any illness much faster, than people who are basically unfit, overweight, living on junk food, not taking sufficient exercise, having a poor diet etc.

In addition if you keep your body in a good condition, you will automatically be avoiding many of the illnesses that may strike.

Its All In The Mind!!

Many medical tests have been done over many centuries to show that merely giving someone a pill, which they think has some wonderful healing properties, will have a noticeable impact on someones’ health and their overall medical condition.

Tip! Main coursework that is provided at an alternative medicine school includes but is not limited to acupuncture; chiropractic; herbalism; Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM); mind/body medicine; bodywork; naturopathy; homeopathy; holistic medicine; reiki and numerous other alternative studies.

This of course is well known as the “placebo” effect, but it illustrates very importantly the power of the “mind” in the psychology of wellness. If you really believe that you will get better then there is a good chance you will!!

Jesus The Master “Mind” Healer

Whether you have any religious belief or not, you cannot but be amazed, by the power and hypnotism of a religious teacher, telling people they will be healed if they can but believe it.

We should all take on board this strong belief in the mind that we will be well, that we will avoid illness, that we will live a strong healthy lifestyle, good diet etc.

You Have To Walk The Walk!!

To prevent illness you have to consider all the time your health and your lifestyle, your diet etc.

When you are hungry and away from home and thinking of getting a “bite to eat” - do you consider whether what you are about to eat, is healthy or not?

Tip! With increasing research and new findings in medicine there is a universal rise in the Western nations of alternative medicine. In the Eastern part of the world, namely the Orient, some forms of alternative medicine has been practiced for many centuries.

I believe you should always be thinking about your life, every day. This way you are alive to the fact that we all get old, and that life is in fact very fragile.

Conclusion - Yes You Can Prevent Illness!!

Always remember you are responsible for your own health. Its not your parents fault you get ill or someone else that just passed some illness on to you. In the end it’s your responsibility.

Use you mind to educate you body against illness, listen to what that voice in your head tells you. Maybe you need a break, maybe you just need to go and lie down for a while to help your body recover. Go on a Sabbatical out in the middle of nowhere with no radio and no TV just to unwind, and allow your body to recover itself.

Tip! Osteopathy: Was originally a form of alternative medicine based on manipulation of the joints. It is still used for chronic back pain.

Be aware of the value of diet and exercise, always be asking yourself what the consequences for your body and your health are of what you are doing
If you take these simple steps you will prevent much of the illnesses that may come your way. You will put your body in such a strong position that illness if it comes, will not be able to rob you of your life and your enjoyment.

How Alternative Medicine Fits in Today’s Society

Tip! Naturopathic medicine: Is a practice that is designed to stimulate the body’s own healing system. This system utilizes multiple forms of alternative medicine.

Think you don’t know what alternative medicine is? It’s more common than you think, and now has a firm place in the world today. Certain therapies not formerly thought of as legitimate medical treatments are now being used on a more frequent basis to treat a variety of ailments, quite often with endorsement from the medical community. Some of the more common types of alternative medicine treatments include:

 Massage therapy
 Aromatherapy
 Hydrotherapy
 Acupuncture
 Herbal Remedies
 Meditation
 Spiritual therapy

More than likely, you are familiar with many of these treatments; maybe you have even experienced a few yourself. Many of these treatments are not only used to treat many common health problems, but are used by people all over the world in order to achieve total well-being.

For thousands of years, the treatments deemed alternative today were standard practice. And now, people seem to be turning to these optional therapies when they are in a health crisis, or if they feel they have nowhere else to turn.

There are factions of people throughout the world who prefer to take advantage of the natural effects that alternative medicines and therapies offer, rather than depend on synthetic drugs to cure or prevent ailments. Herbal medication have the benefit of being completely organic, or from the earth, and often provide equivalent remedies to prescription drugs.

Alternative medicines and treatments have become part of the fabric of our society today. While many of these therapies are meant to be used as a treatment for a health problem, some are used by people as simply a method of relaxation or reward. Chief among them is massage therapy. Massage has become incorporated into the routines of many individuals in today’s society as a means of stress reduction, rather than pain relief.

Meditation is another form of alternative medicine that has become an integral part of many lives in today’s society. With its roots steeped in ancient spiritual history, meditation acts like massage in that it provides a release for stress and anxiety. In order to perform mediation correctly, though, you should learn as much as you can about it first. Many people enjoy this type of alternative therapy a great deal because of the personal control they have when performing it. Many individuals in today’s society highly recommend meditation as a type of alternative medicine.

The stresses of today’s society have led some to cry out for change. Many find solace and healing in alternative medicine treatments. The natural treatments and calming effects of many of them are exactly what many people have been searching for in order to reduce their stress. The average person is forced to deal with a large amount of stress on a daily basis. Alternative medicine and treatments bring relief to the stresses and anxiety that people of today’s society feel weighed down by.

In today’s society, we see a great deal of stress, anxiety, and illnesses. Alternative medicine provides a viable option to traditional medicine that aids people in the maintenance of their well-being in their busy lives. Massage therapy and meditation are two common treatments that people can turn to, that can also have a positive effect on today’s society as a whole. As we move forward in society, you will continue to see a shift towards more acceptance of alternative medicine and therapy.

Tip! The principle of holistic alternative medicine is that a pathogen, a virus or bacteria, for instance, is not the cause of illness, but rather that illness is the consequence of the body’s reaction to the pathogen. Naturopathic and holistic alternative medicine practitioners threat their patients with methods that alleviate the symptoms of the disease.
