Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

Tip! Today scientists are attempting to translate the effects of this ancient medicine into modern biophysical terms as more research comes out in support of acupuncture’s effect on fertility. Western medical theory holds that acupuncture initiates electromagnetic signals via the nervous and endocrine systems, to the hypothalamus.

Seeking acupuncture schools in the US and Canada? Typically comprised of comprehensive educational program of up to 3,000 credit hours; acupuncture schools encompass a variety of learning structures including 5-Element acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine style.

Basically, acupuncture universities and schools will furnish a detailed program of study in Oriental medicine including but not limited to acupuncture; anatomy; body therapies; biosciences; herbal medicine and Tai Chi. In addition to providing a broad educational course, students can expect to gain in-depth technical experience, which teaches the philosophy of acupuncture, Oriental medicine and complex needling procedures.

There are no definitive policies on which curriculum is or is not mandatory; therefore, some acupuncture schools may integrate a fixed coursework in Herbology; while other institutions offer herbal courses as a discretionary elective.

Because educational regulations vary from state to state, independent acupuncture schools may incorporate diverse instructional outlines to meet or exceed approved recommendations. (Note: It is always sensible to consult with potential educational facilities prior to enrolling in any long term course(s) with regard to practice issues.)

Primarily, students attending acupuncture schools can anticipate a diverse curriculum that successfully educates and trains them to become natural healers in the field of Oriental and herbal medicine. To become a professionally licensed acupuncturist, students should review specific educational and training requirements in their individual states.
